This study examines the multidimensional impact of market liberalization on Uzbekistan's economic trajectory following the comprehensive reform agenda initiated in 2017. It investigates the relationships between trade openness, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows, GDP growth, and institutional quality improvements. A mixed-methods research design is employed, combining quantitative regression and correlation analyses using primary survey data (n = 350) from business executives, policymakers, and economists, supplemented by secondary macroeconomic data from the World Bank and IMF covering 2010–2023. Results indicate that market liberalization reforms have significantly improved trade openness (β = 0.612, p < 0.01), attracted FDI inflows (β = 0.543, p < 0.01), and fostered GDP growth (β = 0.489, p < 0.05). However, institutional quality mediates these relationships, suggesting that reforms yield greater dividends when accompanied by robust governance frameworks. The study is limited to the period 2010–2023 and focuses on formal sector respondents. Findings may not fully represent informal economy dynamics. Future research should incorporate longitudinal panel data across Central Asian economies. Policymakers should accelerate regulatory simplification and anti-corruption measures to maximize the gains from liberalization. Firms entering the Uzbek market should anticipate regulatory transitions and invest in compliance infrastructure. Market liberalization has demonstrated positive but unequal distributional effects. While aggregate incomes have risen, targeted social protection policies are needed to address regional disparities and protect vulnerable households during transition. This is among the first empirical studies to quantitatively assess the simultaneous effects of trade liberalization, FDI attraction, and institutional reforms in Uzbekistan post-2017 using primary mixed-methods data. It contributes a novel Central Asian perspective to the global market liberalization literature.
