TIDAL DEFORMABILITY AND LOVE NUMBERS OF NEUTRON STARS IN MODIFIED GRAVITY THEORIES

Description

This work studies the tidal deformability and Love numbers of neutron stars in general relativity. The Tolman–Oppenheimer–Volkoff (TOV) equations together with tidal perturbation equations are solved numerically for several realistic equations of state, including APR4, SLy4, WFF1, and MPA1. The mass-radius relations, tidal Love number k2, and dimensionless tidal deformability Λ are calculated and compared with modern gravitational-wave observations. The results show that tidal properties strongly depend on the compactness and equation of state of neutron stars.
