This article analyzes the impact of the 1979 Sino-Vietnamese War on Indian foreign policy in the context of the Cold War. It examines key factors shaping the Indian government's response to foreign policy developments, such as anti-colonialism and non-alignment. The article draws on Indian parliamentary debates on the conflict, which reveal internal disagreements and their impact on foreign policy decisions. It also examines newspaper articles and contemporary and post-war statements by Indian officials, which reflect and underscore the Indian government's foreign policy priorities.
