Abstract
Population distribution is an important aspect of regional planning and socio-economic development. The present study examines the population distribution pattern of Solapur district in Maharashtra based on Census 2011 data. The study focuses on rural-urban population distribution, population density, taluka-wise population distribution, literacy, and demographic characteristics. The findings reveal that Solapur district has a predominantly rural population with significant variation among talukas. Solapur North taluka has the highest population concentration due to urbanization, while talukas such as Mangalvedha and Karmala have relatively lower population densities. The study highlights the role of economic activities, agriculture, industrial development, and urbanization in shaping the population distribution pattern in the district.
