Challenges of transforming the EU's innovation potential and activating innovation processes in Ukraine in the context of its European integration

Description

Negative trends in EU research and development have been identi-fied, which explain its technological lag behind the US and China. The reasons for their emergence are indicated. It is noted that alt-hough Ukraine’s problems in the field of research and development are similar to those in the EU, they are much deeper and more criti-cal. It is shown that overcoming these problems is impossible without the accelerated development and modernisation of industrial produc-tion, which will create demand for research and development and become a prerequisite for increasing their funding. Given the prob-lems in the EU, the need to find internal sources of expanded re-search funding in Ukraine is demonstrated, and attention is drawn to the potential of existing state programmes to support the real sector, the possibilities for integrating research and educational institutions with the manufacturing sector on the platform of industrial parks and sectoral technology clusters.
