The core of the pilot was testing the new Signal Detection Tool. The installation and use of the tool was overall user-friendly, although some knowledge of R was needed. The output of the tool was clear and improved during the period with the new releases. Especially, the addition of the pandemic correction was very useful. Nevertheless, at this moment the tool only scarcely enrich the current STEC surveillance in the Netherlands except for some clear visualisations in the output. The similar results of the tool and our own surveillance analyses did show the functionality of the tool. Furthermore, it could be interesting for some other pathogens for which we have less surveillance structure at the moment.
