Real Time Public Transportation Tracking System

Description

The Real-Time Public Transportation Tracking System (AURA TRANSIT) is an intelligent mobile-based solution
designed to improve the efficiency, transparency, and reliability of public transportation services. The system utilizes
smartphone GPS technology, Flutter, Firebase Realtime Database, and Google Maps API to provide continuous live
tracking of buses without requiring dedicated tracking hardware. Drivers can share their real-time location through
a mobile application, while passengers can monitor bus positions, estimated arrival times, and route progress on an
interactive map. Firebase Authentication ensures secure role-based access for drivers and passengers, while Firestore
manages route, vehicle, and user information. The proposed system reduces passenger uncertainty, minimizes
waiting time, enhances communication between transport providers and commuters, and supports better fleet
management. By offering a low-cost and scalable alternative to traditional Automatic Vehicle Location systems,
AURA TRANSIT contributes to the development of smarter, more accessible, and user-friendly urban transportation
networks.
