Competency-based nursing education is one of the most important directions in the modernization of medical technical schools. Traditional nursing education often focuses on the transmission of theoretical knowledge and the mechanical repetition of practical procedures. However, modern healthcare requires nurses who can think clinically, communicate ethically, make safe decisions, work in teams and respond responsibly to patient needs. The aim of this article is to theoretically analyze the pedagogical and psychological foundations of competency-based nursing education in medical technical schools. The article uses Uzbek, CIS and foreign scientific literature from 2010–2025 and examines the role of learning outcomes, clinical practice, simulation, reflective learning and objective assessment. The analysis shows that competency-based nursing education is effective when curriculum, teaching methods, clinical supervision and assessment are organized around clearly defined professional competencies. Such an approach strengthens the connection between theory and practice and prepares nursing students for real professional activity.
