Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma with Sarcomatoid Features: A Surgical-Diagnostic Challenge. A Case Report

Background: Objective: To describe the clinical presentation, surgical management, and postoperative evolution of a patient with anaplastic thyroid carcinoma with sarcomatoid features.

Introduction: Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma is a rare but highly aggressive thyroid malignancy characterized by rapid progression and poor prognosis.

Case description: A 77-year-old male presented with a progressively enlarging cervical mass associated with nodal conglomeration and local invasion. En bloc cervical resection with reconstruction was performed.

Conclusion: Aggressive surgical treatment may provide locoregional control in selected patients with anaplastic thyroid carcinoma.
